I love my dad. This man is amazing, seriously - for those of you who know him, you know what I'm talking about, another time I'll post a lil tribute to dear ole dad.
My parents are taking each grandchild out to dinner individually - one on one, each week. Clarification - the grandkids that live close enough to go to dinner, they have a couple in California and I'm sure will find a way to make some attempt to spend some one on one time with them when they are there visiting. Anyhow, tonight was my Buggy's turn (Maya), she went and chose to go to Chuck-a-Rama. She ate to her little tummy's content and then some.
They brought her home, it was about 8:00, bedtime, and my dad taking an interest in my safety - OR NOT - mentioned that my garage was not shut all the way. Well, the stupid garage door is broken, it's hard to get it to shut completely. It was open about a foot, if that. I tell hi, "it's ok, it's broken, don't worry." Then this beloved man in my world says to ME, "well, I hope the snakes don't get into the garage." He then tells me how they have had a few in their garage. "Gee dad, THANKS - thanks a heck of a lot." At this moment I was honestly questioning if this man loved me. How could he be so cruel? He knows I hate snakes, furthermore, he knows my protector, my serpent slayer is not home!
I gave him a little talking to, not much, I needed to get to higher ground, a place where the serpents slithering on their evil bellies would not get to me or my children. Once inside I locked myself in my bedroom for about 5 minutes and had a private phobic moment.
It's too cold for the snakes right now isn't it? Aren't they preparing to hibernate? Do snakes hibernate? If not someone lie to me! I will say in my daddy's defense, I have always been afraid of snakes, it's only been about 5-8 years it's become a real phobia. He has never seen how I can convulse, cry like a baby and how my reaction can scare my poor kids into behaving like little angles! I don't think he knew the damage he was doing as he uttered those cursed words! I still love you Dad!
Oh - and I don't suppose I'll be sleeping well tonight, and not because serpent slayer is gone.
