I did it, I got out. I 'found' or was found I can't remember exactly, these two friends from high school on facebook. Needless to say we actually found a time we could all meet up for lunch. Katy and I actually went to Dixie college together after high school. Once at Dixie we quickly became friends with this really 'hot' guy that looked exactly like Andre Agassi - seriously. Those were Andre's long hair days and when he was in his prime. We hung out with Jeff, aka Andre on weekends, we went dancing and to Mesquite and Vegas a few times. Nicole came down to visit Katy and met Jeff and they got married and have lived happily ever after. That's pretty much the story. I didn't love high school like some people did. I am grateful to a handful of good friends and it's pretty cool to re-connect after all these years and see that we are still the same but different. Thankfully different in ways.

Tidbits from the kiddos
I should just start a little column on the side of this blog of the funny or not so funny things my kids say on a daily basis that I want to remember. Anyhow, todays came from Risi. Maya was pulling her usual 'I hate church' protest as I told her to go get tights and shoes on. She came down stairs wearing a very cute blue dress, hair cute, and red socks with ugly brown shoes. So, I sent her back up stairs to put on what I had set out for her. She was crying like it was the end of the world, when Tom questioned me about why she was crying, I said, "The usual, she hates church" Risi, overheard me and you almost have to hear her tone of voice to find this humorous, but here a stab at it anyway, her response was, "I sure hope she's a Mormon when she grows up." Tom and I both started laughing and she said, "That was not suppose to be funny." She's right, it's not funny, we're talking eternal salvation here people. Come on Maya, jump on board, we want you for eternity we really do!

FIRE STATION
I am so behind on my blogging, and I do have much to blog about, I decided to start with our outing at the fire station. I took Robby, Maya and Miles with Robby's joy school group, there are only 5 kids in the group so I was trying to add to the number of kids so they would see us as a valid pre-school. It worked, perhaps to well, the man in charge was a little annoyed at our underage kids, we had 3 toddlers. But, the kids LOVED this trip. Bright red fire trucks, how cool. There is a picture here with the kids with their hands over their ears, that was when the siren went off. It was LOUD, Miles will have some PTSD from that experience, and I think grumpy fire man let them go off a little longer because he enjoyed the distress of the toddlers. Actually, he really wasn't so bad, the picture of him having the kids STOP, DROP and ROLL was so funny. And, the questions the kids had were hilarious. The joy school group includes 4 boys and 1 girls, and I am telling you, I have yet to experience anything more entertaining than the 4 year old boy.
Oh - I'm forgetting the funny or not so funny part about this trip. So, Mr. Fireman who is also the fire inspector for Orem city houses, and businesses went over basic house hold fire safety tips. Things like is you should have alarms on each level of your home, and more recent one in each bedroom, he reminded us to check batteries. He also cautioned us to double check thing like not leaving your stove or oven on, or leaving burning candles on when you are not at home. DUH, I know this stuff. And, my house is so up to code. Um, yeah, except for that burning candle I left at home while we were at the fire station! Yes, I made a comment - sarcastic in nature, and he informed me 'Mam, we don't joke about things of that nature.' Ok, so, I sort of scooted on out of that room and called my neighbor and asked him to go to my house and blow the candle out. And, in all seriousness, I intend to be much more vigilant about my fire safety in the home from now on.
As stated, I have much more to post about and will get working on it. So, stay tuned.

1 Unsupervised kid = Messy, Sticky Kitchen
A few weeks ago Tom and I were watching t.v. in our room, while kids were playing away from us. After realizing we hadn't been disturbed for 'too long' I went downstairs to find Mr. Miles on the counter enjoying the sprinkles. He had spilled an entire bottle of multi-color tiny sprinkles all over the kitchen counter spilling onto the floor. That wasn't all the damage he had done, he also managed to get into the rice first and dumped that all over the tile kitchen floor. The rice apparently didn't hit the poor kids sweet tooth so he moved a chair and climbed onto the counter in search of sugar. I guess I can't really blame him, I'd just like him to learn how to clean up after himself. As I was taking pictures Tom began sweeping, Tom said, "You are just happy to have something to write about." That's partly true, I am mostly happy to see Miles overcome all the obstacles with his health and that he CAN climb. He has been kicked out of kids on the move, the early intervention group of therapist with him and has officially been placed in the "Normal" category. I've learned "Normal" is relative.
This morning I decided to make the kids pancakes for breakfast, which is rare treat for them. It seems so wrong to me to load kids up with sugar in the morning. However, a few times a year I give in and today was one of those days. Risi was so excited she asked me to stack hers up like she has seen on some t.v. commercial, silly girl. One of the most painful things for me to watch is Miles eating, he wants so much to eat like the big kids. He gets about 1/4 of what is on his spoon into his mouth, so you all know where the rest goes. Oatmeal is the worst, I have to walk away, and of course he wants oatmeal for every meal. Practice makes perfect right? He will figure it out and soon my sticky floors and chairs will be a thing of the past.
